Bruce Whitwell is a certified physician assistant at Healthcare Express.

Bruce graduated with honors from the University of Florida College of Medicine in 1996 with a Bachelor of Science in Medicine. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from the University of Texas at Tyler, where he studied on a Dean’s Scholarship at the College of Science and Mathematics.  He also holds an associate’s of arts degree from Tyler Junior College.

Bruce is currently certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants, and he is certified in advanced cardiac life support.  He also has experience in advanced trauma life support and pediatric advanced life support.

Prior to working at Healthcare Express, Bruce practiced emergency medicine in North Carolina and in Texas for 12 years. 

In addition to his work experience as a physician assistant, Bruce has also been a guest lecturer for the physician assistant program at Eastern Carolina University and a main continuing education lecturer for paramedics in Wilson County, North Carolina.

From 1998-2004, Bruce was appointed to serve on the Wilson County Emergency Medical Services Advisory Board.

In his spare time, Bruce enjoys playing golf and spending time with his family.
